COURSE NAME: Puppy Points Seminar (*Single rate)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is a seminar for ALL puppy owners. If you have had your pup for a while, if you have lived with your pup for a short time...or if you are adding a pup to your family in the future....this is the seminar for you. It will cover nipping, biting, barking, chewing, nutrition and household manners. Also covered is crate training and house training. In this people-only seminar, you will learn how to problem solve, and better yet, how to avoid potential problems in the future. Relationship building and setting a positive foundation for your pup will be the focus. This promises to be an educational and entertaining evening, with Who's Walking Who's "tell it like it is" style. Please note, there will be questions on our registration form about a pup that you may not have, or might not know the info. Please fill out as much as you can, then put Not Applicable for anything else. Thanks.

COURSE NAME: Pet First Aid - Single Person (whole day)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
An official "Walks and Wags" (formerly Oakland) course in Pet First Aid, taught by a certified instructor. This 10 hour course covers topics such as -preventing illness and injury, restraint and transportation, bleeding and wounds, shock. bone and joint injuries, eye and ear injuries,poisoning, medical conditions. injuries from heat and cold, administrating medication, airway obstruction, artificial respiration and CPR. This is a must for all pet owners. It is not in place of Vet care, but may save your pets lives in an emergency situation. As per Wags and Walks, certificate will be issued if attendance is perfect plus open book test is passed.

Great News! WWW is one of the only facilities to use "Casper the CPR dog" and "Fluffy the CPR Cat". Casper is a lifelike, mechanical breathing dog. Individual-use airway/lung system eliminates cross-contamination between students and each student discards the airway after the day’s instruction ends. Veterinarian review during the development of this unit assures the caregiver that they are learning exactly the right procedures for their cherished pets. "Fluffy" will give you the much needed experience on a smaller pet for a life like simulation of small breed dog CPR.

With it you can demonstrate the correct:
• Rescue position for administering CPR
• Tongue movement for clearing the airway and sealing the oral space
• Position for checking femoral pulse
• Hand position for compressions
• Procedure and depth of compressions
• Procedure for rescue breathing via mouth-to-snout

With Casper, we are able to offer the ultimate Pet First Aid Course.

**Please note that this course is worth 10 credits for CCPDT members**

COURSE NOTES:  *Very friendly dogs, that are quiet in a crate, are welcome. Dogs will be shared amongst students for practice and it is not necessary to bring your own. Please bring your own crate to the course.

COURSE NAME: Off The Grid

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Outdoor enthusiasts, backpackers, campers, dog walkers, hikers, cabin owners, cottagers..this is the course for you!
This 3 hour supplemental course to our popular Pet First Aid Certificate course is fun, interesting and educational.
Covered in this course is -
Trip Planning (research required before you leave, Pet first aid kit update, camping supplies for the unexpected) - Equipment Improvisation )for times when no matter how carefully you pack, you may need to improvise with what's available) - Poisoning (added info from PFA including what may be in your backpack such as hand warmers, sugar free products and personal medication) - Prolonged Patient Care (advanced shock/pain management) - Evacuation (lifting/moving and make shift stretchers)
While you may bring your dog, we will have a happy and willing canine participant to share.
Human participants will receive a work book. There is an exam at the end of class to test your knowledge and if successful, a Certificate valid for 3 years will be issued.
*We do have a willing canine participant, so bring your own dog is not necessary. However, very friendly dogs, that are quiet in a crate, are welcome. Please bring your own crate to the course.

COURSE NOTES:  Note: *Participants need to have a current (within 3 years) certificate from a Walks N' Wags Pet First Aid program. **Please add the date of your PFA Certificate to your registration** Check our schedule for details on our PFA course and dates if you need to take in advance of Off The Grid. The participant will earn a Certificate upon completion of course and exam.
